Former Sorting Office

This former postal sorting office was acquired by Cathedral for conversion to offices. The brief was to retain the character of the imposing existing building externally as far as possible, while fitting out the interior to modern standards.

All the necessary facilities were provided in the side wing. In the main hall a lightweight mezzanine was provided over half of the floor area, carefully juggling the operational requirements with means of escape. The result is a light airy office that maximises the available space.
